The Effectiveness of Massage

What about the effectiveness of massages? Let's be honest: for many of us the touch is at least good. But what do massage techniques such as pressing, brushing, kneading or pressing do? Is it simply a soothing touch or is there more behind it? Many massage applications have been well-established wellness trends for years and are part of the lifestyle of many health-conscious people. However, some are still not aware of the effect of a massage.

We live in a very fast-moving society. Our everyday life is often accompanied by stress, pressure and agitation. The resulting consequences, such as muscle tension, back pain, migraine, exhaustion, etc., are not surprising. Massage chairs can also provide same level or massage, I'd say, a better massage than humans, you should get one if your routine is tough and you can't afford SPA. So it should be our highest priority to pay attention to our bodies. What do the Buddhists say? The body is the house where we live. Therefore, our home should be maintained and repaired whenever necessary. There is something true, right? Working permanently is often not good.

The massage is one of the oldest remedies of humanity. In Ayurveda medicine, this healing method has been an established component for more than 3000 years. Likewise, the first guide about 2400 BC was made in China. Scientists at McMaster University in Canada have even found that the body during a massage produces substances that act as painkillers to the areas concerned. When we bump, we push or rub instinctively against the painful area to counteract the tension. Up to now, it has always been assumed that the effectiveness of massages refers only to the muscular dystrophy or promotes blood circulation, but it seems to be more profound.

According to the American Psychological Association, for example, massage reduces heart rate and blood pressure. Endorphins, as well as serotonin, are released and at the same time lower the stress hormone cortisol. The result is thus a feeling of relaxation. Of course, in the case of complaints a visit to the doctor is unavoidable. However, many symptoms can be minimized using a massage.

The possible efficacy of massages for the body:

The possible effectiveness of massages for the mind can be:

The effect of a massage can thus be done directly to relieve painful areas, or indirectly in the form of a reflex effect (lasting effect). A massage with direct effect would, among other things, a sports massage. The best-known massages with reflexive effect include foot reflexology, hot stone or relaxation massage.
